Welcome to Alexandra lodge No.1188 EC
Nestled in the heart of Hamilton, New Zealand, Alexandra Lodge No. 1188 EC has been an enduring part of the Waikato community since its founding in 1866 at Finch’s Hotel in Pirongia. From its early beginnings in a frontier settlement to its place in a thriving modern city, the lodge has continued to evolve while remaining true to its core values.
In 1918, the lodge relocated to Hamilton, allowing it to grow alongside the region and continue its Masonic journey in a new setting. Today, Alexandra Lodge No. 1188 is proud to be one of the fastest-growing lodges in the area, reflecting a strong and renewed interest in Freemasonry within the community.
We operate under the United Grand Lodge of England (English Constitution) and are guided by the enduring principles of Freemasonry, including integrity, respect, and service to others. These foundations connect us to a global tradition while shaping the way we support and develop our members locally.
Our lodge welcomes men aged 18 and over from all backgrounds who share an interest in personal growth, strong values, and contributing positively to society. We provide a supportive environment where members can develop character, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose.
Whether you are exploring Freemasonry for the first time or looking to reconnect, we invite you to learn more and become part of our continuing story in the Waikato.
